KUALA LUMPUR: The Civil Defence Force (APM) tonight rescued a two-year-old child who was trapped inside a car in the city centre.

Kuala Lumpur APM operations officer Lieutenant Shahrul Kamar Mohd Johari said in the incident at 8.30 pm in Jalan Bukit Bintang, the father of the child, a South Korean national, had just changed his son’s diaper before closing the door.

He said the man, unaware that the car key was in his child’s hand, then locked the door, causing his son to be trapped inside the car as his wife and eldest child were outside the car.

“APM personnel, upon receiving the emergency call, were deployed to the location and opened the car door at 8.55 pm,” he said when contacted last night.

He said the APM team took 10 minutes to open the car door, and the child was reported to be unharmed. – BERNAMA
