KUCHING: The application for Ramadan Bazaar trading lots in Satok, Semarak, and Sukma Ria under the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) is now open from today (Feb 18) to Feb 21.

According to Utilities and Telecommunications Deputy Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi, there will be a total of 168 lots up for grabs based on a “first come, first served” basis.

He added that there will be 94 lots in Satok, 24 lots in Semarak, and 50 lots in Sukma Ria that will be sold, ranging from RM300 to RM500 per lot.

“Applications can be made through the Google Form link on the DBKU website.

“All applicants are reminded to submit a valid phone number and email so that they can be easily contacted,” he said at a press conference after officiating the Taman Kuching Family Park here today (Feb 18).

Following this, he stated that every application sent will be filtered out, and only the successful applications will be contacted by DBKU via email to make payment at its payment counter or through the SPay Global application.

“For successful vendors, you are advised to adhere to good food handling ethics in line with the requirements under the Food Act 1983 and the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.

“Food sampling activities will be carried out at all Ramadan Bazaar sites to ensure that the food sold is clean and safe for the public,” he said.

In line with this, Abdul Rahman also reminded everyone that the use of styrofoam or polystyrene containers as food packaging is not allowed.

“This is because the said packaging can cause pollution to the environment and harm the public’s health.

“In addition, water and electricity connections at all the Ramadan Bazaar sites are not permitted,” he said, while advising visitors not to park carelessly to avoid traffic congestion.

Aside from the three Ramadan Bazaar locations, the Pantai Damai assemblyman also stated that there are several other locations for Ramadan Bazaars and Aidilfitri Bazaars organised by private organisations.
