MUKAH: A ceremony to thank and appreciate workers of the divisional and district disaster management committees was held at Mukah New Administrative Centre here yesterday.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the workers were actually the frontliners who were involved in their respective duties during the movement control order (MCO), conditional movement control order (CMCO) and currently the recovery movement control order (RMCO).

She said for the record, Mukah was the first division in Sarawak to organise this sort of ceremony during the RMCO, and attended by about 100 people.

However, she said, this does not mean that the Covid-19 pandemic is over.

“Let us remember that we are still on the way in our fight against Covid-19.

“Whether it is a long way or short way, it depends on us all and hopefully our area would remain a green zone,” she said at the ceremony.

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, advised the people at all levels in this division to continue complying with the standard operating procedures (SOPs), so that the target to be free from Covid-19 could be achieved soon.

Fatimah added, while we are currently occupied with containing Covid-19, we must also be continuously vigilant against the threat of rabies and dengue, which are also dangerous.

The ceremony, organised by Mukah Division Welfare, Sports and Culture Council (Maksak) also witnessed the handover of hand sanitisers by Fatimah to representatives of district education offices in this division.
