Aspirasi eyes 20, Lina to contest Padungan

KUCHING: Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) will field at least 20 candidates in the Dec 18 state election.

“We are working together with PBDSB who will be fielding their candidates mostly in Dayak majority areas,” said its president Lina Soo here on Sunday (Nov 28).

“We will be contesting mainly in the urban and suburban areas,” she told reporters at the party’s 25th Silver Jubilee celebration.

Soo said among others the party’s agenda was to have a Dayak Chief Minister and that it had a candidate, Bobby William, in mind.

She also confirmed that she will be contesting the Padungan constituency, adding that more announcements would be made on Monday.

“For Kuching, we are going for, at least, four seats, and we will also be contesting in Sibu, Miri, Bintulu and Serembu in Padawan,” she said.

Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party, a splinter of the STAR party, was founded by the late Datuk Dr Patau Rubis in October 1996.

Soo who is the party’s third president expressed confidence that she can wrest the Padungan seat.
