KUCHING: Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party (Aspirasi) wants the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to produce a White Paper on Sarawak rights to its oil and gas, territorial boundaries and the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Its president Lina Soo said the paper must also cover all legislations which have compromised the sovereignty of Sarawak and necessary actions to repeal all such laws.

“Most important of all, GPS must include the undertaking to have a state-wide consultation process through a referendum to ascertain the wishes of the people whether it is tenable to stay in the federation after 57 years of domination, subjugation and exploitation.

“This can be legitimately conducted by the Sarawak government under State List II item 10 of the Intergovernmental Report 1962,” she explained.

She said Sarawakians have been short-changed by both Barisan National and Pakatan Harapan regimes and urged that such bullying be stopped.

“We should take this chance to make things right for ourselves, our children and our future generations because we have been let down by our politicians and the British in the past.

“Sarawak is now on the threshold of being able to rectify many of the past mistakes,” she noted.
