KUCHING: Assistant Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil has instructed the Public Works Department (JKR) to repair the damages at numerous roads in Marudi immediately, including Jalan Ulu Tinjar, Jalan Lubok Mulong/Ng Lait, and at Sg Nyiro.
The Marudi assemblyman shared that he had held a meeting with JKR regarding the issue of damages at these roads and the status of implementation of the Projek Rakyat involving road upgrades in his constituency.
“These projects include the roads which are damaged, that is, at Long Tabing, Long Teran, Long Jegan, Long Tisam, Lubok Mulong, Ng Lait, Ajoi, and so on.
“However, these have not been implemented yet as they are still in the document preparation stage,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Jan 7).
He assured that both he and JKR were well aware of the road damages and JKR had presented their strategy to overcome the issue.
“I apologise for the inconvenience faced by the residents here due to the damage to these roads,” said Penguang.
He also said that he had requested for JKR to formulate a maintenance strategy for the roads for the comfort of the residents.
“This is because many of the roads which have been upgraded are starting to deteriorate as a result of floods and unpredictable weather,” he said.
Also present at the meeting were JKR deputy director Ir Richard Tajan and senior officers of JKR Miri.
