KUCHING: The Kuching Autistic Association’s (KAA) newly reconstructed playground ‘Rainbow Fun Haven’ will incorporate tactile and kinesthetic features for special needs children.

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Women chief Kho Teck Wan said the facility is crucial because it involves social activities for the special needs children.

“As you know artificial intelligence (AI) is here, AI will replace a lot of the human jobs, but AI cannot replace human empathy.

“It (AI) cannot replace human emotions and cannot replace some of the physical training that is needed by our special needs children,” she told the media.

Kho was representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian to officiate the ‘i-CATS Program Khidmat Masyarakat’ at KAA on today (Nov 10).

Commenting on the programme, Kho hopes it would inspire the i-CATS students since they are in diploma, degree and foundation programmes.

“So in the future, whatever they (the students) choose, it will impact society, in a good way. So no one is left behind.”

Dr Sim gave RM5,000 as a financial grant to i-CATS University College, and Kho urged students to consider i-CATS University College as it will be among the schools whose fees would be free in 2026.

“I also touch a bit on the financial grant, from the government where i-CATS is actually one of the schools, where the school fee will be free in 2026.

“To all the students, there are opportunities also in i-CATS. There are avenues that school fees would be free and they should come and explore the offer from the school.”

Also present at the event were Dr Catherine Chen Jean Ai, president of KAA; Prof Dr Kopli Bujang, i-CATS Universiti College pro vice chancellor for Industrial and Community Engagement.

For the record , a total of 167 students and 25 members of i-CATS University College participated in the programme, collaborated together with KAA, Earthscape Inhabitant Sdn Bhd, and Padawan Municipal Council, with the support of Dr Sim.
