KUCHING: Kuching Society of Community Leadership and Economic Development (PPKEK) will be hosting the state level Miss & Mrs Kebaya Malaysia 2018 beauty pageant contest.

It will be holding auditions for the contest at AEON Mall here on September 23 from 2pm to 5pm. PPKEK secretary, Dayne Tee Sing Chee, said the auditions were open to all, irrespective of race and religion. KUCHING: Kuching Society of Community Leadership and Economic Development (PPKEK) will be hosting the state level Miss & Mrs Kebaya Malaysia 2018 beauty pageant contest.

It will be holding auditions for the contest at AEON Mall here on September 23 from 2pm to 5pm. PPKEK secretary, Dayne Tee Sing Chee, said the auditions were open to all, irrespective of race and religion.The Miss Kebaya category is for single women aged 18 to 35 years old while the Mrs Kebaya category is for married women aged 25 to 50 years old.

The contestants of both categories must be at least 160 centimetres tall. “We will be selecting 12 finalists for the Miss Kebaya category and 12 finalists for the Mrs Kebaya category,” Tee told a press conference at UCSI Hotel here yesterday. He added all the 24 finalists would undergo training and courses before competing in the grand final and charity gala dinner scheduled to take place in November. He said the venue would be confirmed later.

Winners of the state level Miss & Mrs Kebaya Malaysia 2018 will each receive a cash prize of RM5,000. Meanwhile, the second place winners will receive RM3,000 cash each and the third place winners RM1,500 cash each.

The beauty pageant contest also offers other awards such as Miss Favourite, Miss Talent, Best Dress, Miss Beautiful Smile, Miss Body Beautiful, Miss Intelligent, Miss Fitness, Miss Photogenic, Miss Best Catwalk, Miss Congeniality and Miss Natural Beauty. “This is the second time PPKEK is hosting the Miss & Mrs Kebaya Malaysia contest since 2016.

The competition aims to promote kebaya as our national heritage,” he added. Women in the state who are interested in participating must confirm their participation before the closing date on September 17. They are advised to attend the auditions by wearing white t-shirts, black or dark blue jeans and at least four-inch high heels.

Each participant has to bring two 4R pictures printed on A4 size paper (one is a close up photo while the other is a full body photo), a Malaysian identity card and RM100 registration fee. Those interested can contact Nana at 016-8891858 or Dayne 013-8023235 to confirm their participation.
