SIMUNJAN: A total of 31 recipients from the Iban Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) in the constituency have received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants amounting to RM285,000.

Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris called on all recipients to make the best use of the grants given to implement various programmes or activities that benefit the residents.

“This grant is to hold activities throughout the year and not just for Gawai celebrations.

“Use this allocation as best as possible by carrying out appropriate activities and welfare programmes in your respective villages,” he said during the presentation of the grants at Rumah Rehat Sri Simunjan, recently.

In the same ceremony, Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee also handed over cheques, under the MP special allocation fund, for RM27,000 to 27 recipients, which also consisted of the Iban JKKK in the area.

According to Rodiyah, the allocation that was handed over was special for the celebration of Gawai Dayak.

“The allocation of funds from me will be handed over in stages and today’s funds are for the Gawai celebration,” she said.
