KUCHING: Over 30 young graduates attended the third edition of Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak’s (Azam Sarawak) Innovative Career Development Workshop for Sarawak’s youth held on today (March 9).

Chairman of the Azam Youth Development Committee Mohd Ariff Irwani said the workshop aims to provide insights to the youth on self-preparation for entering the professional world with practical skills as well as to foster volunteerism among them.

He also said the workshop helps to instil critical career advancement skills, cultivate positive attitudes and proactive behaviour, to promote personal well-being and emotional balance among participants.

“It is crucial for fresh and young graduates to learn more about the workflow and process involved in levelling up in a corporate setting.

“We believe that programmes like this will be able to provide knowledge that could guide them once they step into the working world,” he said in his opening remarks.

Mohd Ariff said the workshop featured highly competitive simulation board games which sets it apart from conventional Career Development Workshops.

He said this activity will expose participants to the challenges in terms of the skills and knowledge required for them to climb up the corporate ladder.

“The approach that we are using is very unique as we use business simulation games that will allow participants to learn career’s ropes and tricks within the session.

“As such, we also encourage participation from those who are already working and who are eager to climb up the corporate ladder.

“All participants are encouraged to give their feedback at the end of the workshop as it will allow us to gain fresh views from the young people,” he said.

Aligning with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and the state development agenda, Mohd Ariff said the workshop also aims to enhance volunteerism among youth and facilitate networking opportunities within Azam Young Souls.

“This is the third edition of this workshop and we have previous participants who are joining us as facilitators. It is our mission to enhance the youth’s confidence and empower them to become volunteers by realising that volunteers are those who can help others,” he said.
