IPOH: The low-income  B40 households  in Perak are urged to register with the Perak Housing and Real Property Board (LPHP) to facilitate planning for affordable housing  in the state.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said since Jan 2014 until Nov last year, only 10,000 applicants had registered with LPHP and the number was not  in tandem with the total number of  households in the state with monthly income of less than RM2,000 per month.

“I urge the B40 (group) to register their names with LPHP to make it easier for them to own their first home because this is very important to the (state) government, so that we can plan our project accordingly.

“If we were to build affordable houses in prime areas or medium-cost houses in areas for affordable housing it will not be appropriate so the B40 group needs to register to facilitate future projects.”

He said this to reporters after the handover of   Casa Kayangan @ Meru’s Affordable Housing Project house keys which was also attended by Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) chief executive, Mohd Ariff Yeop Ishak here yesterday.

According to Ahmad Faizal, registration with LPHP could be made online, at the nearest village head office or the nearest Pakatan Harapan’s service centre.

Earlier, Ahmad Faizal in his speech said the state government was targeting the construction of 50,000 units of affordable housing comprising low-cost and medium-cost houses throughout the state within a five-year period.

“The state government has identified several locations to build more than 30,000 low-cost houses ranging from RM40,000 and medium-cost houses at RM70,000 and above.

“Part of the 30,000 units are under construction while work on the remaining number will begin soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Ariff in his speech said the Casa Kayangan 25-storey apartment developed by PKNP with 384 units, was fully completed in November and the units were sold from RM250,000 to RM309,000 according to the floor level and area. – Bernama
