KUCHING: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen strongly condemns the threats made against multiple schools and educational institutions nationwide by irresponsible quarters.

He calls upon the police department and relevant authorities to take immediate action and conduct a thorough investigation to trace the source of these threats.

“The fullest weight of the law must come upon those who threaten the safety and security of children.
“In addition to the 11 schools in the Klang Valley and Penang previously reported to receive threats, today brings news of another such threat targeting a school in Bandar Kuching.

“I am in contact with the school’s management, which is actively collaborating with authorities to guarantee the safety of students and staff. A sweep of the school has been conducted, revealing no evidence of threats so far,” he said.

Yii stated that additional steps will be taken to ensure the ongoing safety and security of the students.
He pointed out that such acts are highly irresponsible, as schools should be the safest places for students to learn and grow.

“Not only is such an act disruptive to the classes, but any act targeting the safety and security of children is most despicable indeed. That is why I urge for all hands on deck in order for us to get to the bottom of such threats and work closely as a society to make sure our young ones are protected,” he said.

Yii also advised the public to refrain from spreading unverified rumours, urging trust in the authorities to handle the situation effectively.
