Bank Rakyat contributes RM1.59m tithe to TBS

KUCHING: Bank Rakyat today (June 16)  contributed RM1,588,987 ‘zakat’ (tithe) to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) here.

The presentation of the mock cheque for the amount from Bank Rakyat chief executive officer Dr Mohammad Hanis Osman to TBS president Datuk Misnu Taha was witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Prior to this, representatives from Bank Rakyat paid a courtesy call on the Premier at the Baitulmakmur 1 Building here.

Dr Mohammad also informed that Bank Rakyat  recorded improving tithe collections year after year.

Later, Abang Johari also received another courtesy visit from a Malaysia Chinese Muslim Association (MACMA)   delegation  led by its president Datin Norhana Ng.

The purpose of the visit was to extend an invitation to the Premier to attend the International Chinese Muslim Conference (ICMC) 2023 Gala Dinner  scheduled to be held at Kuching Waterfront Hotel on August 19.

Ng also said that several Chinese Muslim communities from countries such as China had been invited for a sharing session.

Meanwhile, representatives from Sumitomo Corporation and SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd also paid a courtesy visit on  the Premier.

Among those present were Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni and SEDC Energy chief executive officer Robert Hardin.
