BAU: Bau’s potential as a tourism draw has won Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah’s vote of approval.

The Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts said with its history and natural beauty, Bau had lots to offer to tourists, whether from overseas or locals, noting the fast-paced changes in terms of development in the area.

“With its proximity to Kuching, tourists will be looking around for places they can go to apart from Borneo Cultures Museum and Sarawak Cultural Village.

“This is where Bau stands out compared to other places and if Bau is polished properly, it can be turned into a melting pot of tourism products,” he said when officiating at the Golden Hill Temple here, yesterday (Feb 8).

Also present were Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, Bau District Officer Constantine Gerald David Jonas and Tecktonic and Sons Holdings managing director Lim Chin Teck.

He called on Bau residents to play their roles by being friendly to visitors as this hospitality will help tourism in the area.

“For tourism to thrive in Bau, the people here must always be willing to welcome visitors.

“Tourism comes with a lot of things. The craft industry, restaurants and small traders will be thriving as this will always come along with tourism,” he added.
