BINTULU: The Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) has issued a Health and Safety Regulations compliance notice to owners of shophouse room-for-rent in the district.
In a statement today, BDA said this was following the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases involving tenants.
“After inspections were carried out on such premises recently, many violations were found such as congestion and poor sanitation.
“We urge all such shophouse owners and (room-for-rent) operators, particularly those who have had Covid-19 cases recently, to comply with this new directive.
“Owners and occupants are also reminded to maintain the cleanliness of the rooms as well as the shophouses.”
This notice will initially be issued to shophouse owners who have positive cases on their premises.
BDA will not hesitate to take legal action if owners are found to have breached the prescribed rules.
