KUCHING: The staff of the International Trade, Industry and Investment Ministry (MINTRED), are urged to take ownership, exhibit proactivity, critical thinking, and analytical skills, while upholding integrity in all endeavours to sustain the momentum of the ministry.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said this during the ministry’s 2024 Appreciation Night held at Riverside Majestic on Monday.

He added that the unity among ministry staff members contributes significantly to the success of Sarawak Civil Service (SCS). Their collective effort fosters an agile, effective and efficient workplace, reinforcing the essence of teamwork.

“Mintred’s efforts extend beyond mere implementation, focusing on monitoring progress, evaluating impact, and making necessary adjustments to ensure the programmes align with the goals of PCDS 2030.

“Moreover, recognising the importance of staying abreast with global developments and trends, MINTRED encourages continuous learning, particularly in areas relevant to the ministry, such as new technologies and digitalisation,” he said.

He added that initiatives such as the digital economy, hydrogen economy, and green economy, including carbon capture utilisation and storage, biomass, sustainable fuel and carbon trading, have been set forth.

These initiatives underscore the importance of teamwork, dedication, and commitment to realise Sarawak’s vision.

Sarawak’s economic potential remains promising, with recorded total investments of RM21.4 billion in 2023.

The manufacturing sector, he said, led with a 62 per cent contribution, followed by the primary and services sectors, affirming Sarawak’s status as a preferred investment destination.
