KUCHING: Any youngster who aspires to start a small business can apply for the Bumiputera Entrepreneur Enhancement Programme (BEEP).
If his/her business proposal is approved, 50 per cent of the proposed amount will be given to the applicant in the form of grant.
“For example if the applicant proposed for RM30,000 to start up his/her business, he/she will be given a grant of RM15,000.
“The applicant can then match the amount of grant through ‘Skim Pinjaman Industri Kecil dan Sederhana’ (SPIKS) to apply for business loans,” said Minister of Entrepreneur and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Development, Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais in an interview when met at the opening ceremony of a new restaurant, Canard Eat and Roll at Lot 86, Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce here, yesterday.
“This restaurant is operated by two young entrepreneurs to cater to the increasing demand of a simple and fast food especially by young consumers.
“As the city grows bigger, so does its purchasing power. Due to today’s lifestyle, many opt for foods that are simple, fast and able to satisfy the youth’s taste and that is what Canard Eat and Roll is bringing to the market,” said Naroden.
Canard Eat and Roll also offers delivery to locations not more than 10kms away from its premises.
