MIRI: Members of the Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) have been encouraged to reflect on the establishment of BEM in Sarawak.

Telang Usan assemblyman, Datuk Dennis Ngau said the establishment of BEM Sarawak served as a testament to the faith and commitment of its members, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.

“As we reflect on this achievement, we are reminded of the importance of unity and perseverance in building a strong foundation for the future,” he disclosed on Saturday during a church service in conjunction with the Easter celebration at BEM Long Watt.

Over 1,200 BEM members from 20 villages in Apoh Tutoh gathered at the church service to commemorate Easter, an important day in the Christian calendar.

“The establishment of BEM in Sarawak marked a significant milestone in the history of Christian missions in the region. BEM members are dedicated individuals who were committed to spreading the Gospel and serving the local communities,” Dennis pointed out.

He added, their professionalism and passion for ministry were evident in their tireless efforts to bring hope and healing to the people of Sarawak.

“Through their selfless work, BEM members were able to establish a strong presence in the region and make a lasting impact on the lives of many. Their dedication to their mission and unwavering faith in God continue to inspire others to follow in their footsteps,” Dennis said.

The atmosphere was filled with reverence and joy as families and individuals came together to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The service included prayers, hymns, and a powerful message reminding attendees of the hope and salvation that Easter represents.

After the mass service, Dennis generously awarded a grant of RM10,000 to the organising committee for their church programme.

In addition, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala, has also pledged to donate RM10,000 to the BEM organising committee for their programmes.
