Bernama editor wins Kazakhstan media contest

KUALA LUMPUR: The International Desk Editor of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Ravichandran Rajamanickam has been announced as one of the winners of the 8th annual ‘Kazakhstan Through the Eyes of Foreign Media’ contest.

The country’s Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement said Ravichandran won under a separate nomination under the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) through his article titled “Kazakhstan’s Unwavering Commitment In Promoting International Peace, Security.”

The new category was introduced to mark Kazakhstan’s chairmanship of CICA.

According to the statement, more than 70 participants from 40 countries took part in the annual contest, presenting their creative works in a variety of formats, including articles in print, popular online platforms, blogs, and podcasts on various topics, including international relations, history, culture, tourism, education, investment potential and national cuisine.

“Eight journalists from five regions of the world won in various nominations,” the statement read.

The winners will have a unique opportunity to visit Kazakhstan in August as part of an organised trip, with visits to the cities of Astana, Almaty and the East Kazakhstan region.

The annual “Kazakhstan Through the Eyes of Foreign Media” contest was initiated in 2014 with the aim of actively promoting global audiences’ interest in Kazakhstan’s current development trends, popularising its rich natural and cultural heritage, as well as to showcase its potential to attract foreign investors and tourists from around the world. – BERNAMA
