Best decorated car competition lights up Bernama’s Malaysia Day celebrations

KUALA LUMPUR: The National News Agency of Malaysia’s (Bernama) inter-departmental best decorated car competition served as the highlight of Bernama’s Malaysia Day celebration which was held at the entrance to the lobby area here yesterday.

Head of Bernama’s Corporate Affairs Division, Mariati Mohd Arif, said the five cars that competed were tastefully decorated with Jalur Gemilang and state flags.

She said the 500 odd Bernama staff who attended were also entertained by dance and silat performances by participants from the various departments.

“This celebration is held together to foster the spirit of patriotism towards the country and to strengthen the relationship between officers and management in addition to being able to increase the spirit of teamwork with competition between departments,” she said when asked about the celebration.

Assistant Administrative Officer, Administration and Facilities, from the Management and Financial Services Department Mohd Zaki Mohd Nor said he and his team members were very excited to have won first place in the decorated car competition and dance performance.

Meanwhile, Editorial Department’s administrative assistant Norliza Hashim who was part of the third place winning team in the decorated car competition said she and her team members adorned the car with used items such as cloth, paper and flags to make it look attractive and cheerful.

The celebration of Malaysia Day with the same theme as National Day 2023 which is ‘Malaysia MADANI: Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope’ will open its curtain at the Unity Stadium in Kuching on Saturday. – BERNAMA
