KUCHING: The Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, through the Women and Family Department, will improve the quality and quantity of gifts for the festive seasons.

“We believe that this not only has great meaning for the recipients, consisting of security and enforcement agency personnel, but also for those who are directly and indirectly involved in their preparations.

“Hopefully, this noble effort will always have the support of all parties and is continued to show appreciation for the services and sacrifices of the personnel,” said the minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah during ‘Sumbangsih Raya 2022’ ceremony yesterday.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg officiated at the ceremony held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here yesterday.

Fatimah stated that this annual tradition started in 1990 as a way for the state government to show appreciation for the personnel of all security and enforcement agencies on duty during the festive season.

“This year, we included five different items, namely, serunding daging, nasi impit, fruit cake, peanuts and murukku.

“The suppliers were selected during a meeting of the department’s direct procurement committee. They are those who submitted their quotations and complied with the requirements.

“The delivery, receipt and quality of the supplied items began from March 25 to 29 while the packaging was done for three days.”

A total of 11,500 boxes would be distributed to 10 different agencies, an increase of 1,000 boxes compared to last year.
