LUNDU: A horrific collision between a car and a high-powered BMW motorcycle left a couple severely injured yesterday (June 4).
The accident happened around 11.30 am at a four-way junction in Kampung Pueh, Jalan Sematan-Telok Melano here.
Lundu police chief DSP Damataries Lautin said the victims, aged 45 and 39, were sent to the hospital for treatment.
Investigations found that the car was traveling from Telok Melano towards the Kampung Pueh junction while the motorcycle was travelling from Sematan to Telok Melano.
“The collision happened when the motorcycle crashed into the side of a car, which was turning to the right at the junction.
“The impact of the collision was so severe that it resulted in serious injuries to the couple,” he said.
Meanwhile, the occupants of the car — the driver and three passengers, miraculously escaped unhurt.
Damataries said the case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
