Biker killed in collision with 4WD vehicle

The victim's motorcycle got stuck under the 4WD vehicle and dragged along the road for a while.

MIRI: A 44-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle at Jalan Datuk Edward Jeli last Sunday (Mar 21).

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the accident happened around 7pm when the 4WD vehicle, which was going to Piasau, turned into Taman Piasau Edar.

At that very moment, the motorcycle crashed into the 4WD vehicle driven by a 56-year-old man.

“As a result, the motorcycle got stuck under the vehicle and got dragged as far as Jalan Taman Piasau Edar junction.

“The victim identified as Khairul Rizal Ibrahim, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident,” he said. His body was later taken to Miri Hospital.

As for the 4WD vehicle driver, he was not injured.

Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
