Bintulu cops seize drugs worth over RM80k

BINTULU: Police here recorded their biggest drug haul so far this year with the seizure of ketamine and Ecstasy drugs worth RM88,000 on Sunday (Feb 13).

The raid conducted by district narcotics police took place at a house in Pearl Garden around 8pm.

Bintulu OCPD Supt Zulkipli Suhaili said the team found a 41-year-old man and arrested him on suspicion of being involved in drug activities.

“The team managed to seize 92g of ketamine and 3,322g of Ecstasy powder.

“They also confiscated cash amounting to RM6,170, believed to be from drug sales.”

Supt Zulkipli added that the suspect admitted to being involved in selling and distribution of drugs since 2015.

The suspect also claimed that the drugs belonged to him and were sold to customers around the district.

Background checks found that the suspect had a past record related to drugs. He also tested positive for drug abuse.

The suspect is being remanded for seven days pending further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
