Bintulu set to experience development second wave

BINTULU: Bintulu will soon experience its second wave of development, says Datuk Majang Renggi.

The Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development noted that the Sarawak Petchem Methanol Project was expected to be completed in 2024 and the construction of the state’s first hydrogen plant would begin in 2023.

“Besides that, there is also the Malaysian Phosphate Additives (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, which is expected to operate in the third quarter of 2022,” he said as per Sarawak Public Communications Unit.

He attended a Majlis Ramah Mesra Pemimpin Bersama Komuniti Sempena Sambutan Gawai Dayak do here last Saturday (June 11).

Majang also revealed that several companies planned to expand or increase the capacity of their factories.

“In this regard, the ports in the state need to be upgraded to increase their capacity, especially the Samalaju Port.

“The port needs to be further improved in terms of infrastructure and services to accommodate the increase in cargo entering and leaving the port.

“There is rapid development in the Samalaju Industrial Park, which includes other sectors that also use this port.”

At the same time, he also pointed out that the investments by companies here would create many job opportunities in various fields for Sarawakians.

“Therefore, it is hoped that the community, especially the fresh graduates and youths, will seize these opportunities.”
