Blood donation and organ pledging drive in Miri

MIRI: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society here together with 11 organisations will host a Malaysia Day Blood Donation and Organ Pledging Campaign today (Sept 17).

The event is scheduled for 8.30am until 1pm  and will be held at the MRCS training institute, along Jalan Bulan Sabit. 

Its Blood Donor Recruitment Committee Chairman, Karambir Singh said this collaboration is between Persatuan Pelayaran Negeri Sarawak, Miri Punjabi Association, Jemaah Nazir Cawangan Miri, Persatuan Wanita Petroleum Miri, KRT Desa Viana, Rakan Pembimbing Perkhidmatan Awam (AKRAB) Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah (PPD) Miri, Moving Communities, Miri Indian Association, Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia Cawangan Sarawak Daerah Lambir, Miri City Caring Society and Miri Piasau Community Welfare Association. 

“Blood donations are essential to saving lives. Blood donation is a safe and simple procedure that can save lives,” he said on Friday.

Karambir added that the blood donation is essential to maintain sufficient supply of blood in Miri Hospital. 

“By donating blood or pledging your organs, you can make a difference in the lives of others. So please, come forward and donate blood or pledge your organs. You could save a life,” he said.
