Bomba club gets RM10,000 allocation

SIBU: Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian has allocated a sum of RM10,000 to Sibu (Zone 4) Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sport and Welfare Club yesterday. Sim announced this during his vworking visit to the Sibu (Zone 4) Bomba accompanied by state Bomba Director, Nor Hisham Mohammad.

Earlier, Nor Hisham when met by reporters told Sibu (Zone 4) Bomba would have another three fire stations by end of 2019. “By end of 2019, we expect to have three new fire stations in Zone 4, namely Daro Bomba which is expected to be completed by end 2018, Sibu Bomba in Sibujaya which has been tendered and expected to begin construction by middle of this year as well as Selangau Bomba which has been tendered.

“Apart from that, Bintangor Bomba also will begin its repairing works soon and expected to complete by end of 2019,” he pointed out, adding currently, Sibu (Zone 4) Bomba has nine fire stations under its charge. According to him, Zone 5 Bomba is going to have three new fire stations namely in Samalaju, Belaga and Batu Niah. “The fire station in Samalaju is going to complete by end of this year while Batu Niah fire station will be retendered.

“The Belaga fire station needs to be redesigned because the original design has overshot the budget,” explained Nor Hisham.

Also present were Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Secretary- General, Datuk Sebastian Ting, Political Secretaries to the Chief Minister, Michael Tiang and Daniel Bujal, Sibu Rural District Council Deputy Chairman, Robert Lau and Sibu (Zone 4) Bomba chief, Misran Bisara.
