SARIKEI: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) took 10 minutes to extinguish a dumpster fire along Jalan Simpang Sare here, last night (Sept 6).
The incident happened around 8.35 pm and firemen from Sarikei station were despatched to the scene, some 10km away.
The team came across rubbish in a dumpster on fire and quickly put it out, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas.
It is believed that garbage fires in dumpsters have been occurring frequently in the area, apparently the work of irresponsible individuals.
Bomba appealed to residents to dispose of waste responsibly, and refrain from burning rubbish, especially in dumpsters or outside the containers.
