JULAU: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) team overcame a 76-kilometre journey to supervise the landslide situation in Rumah Gelimai Nanga Melepong, located in Ulu Entabai Pakan in Julau, yesterday (March 17).

Bintangor Fire Station chief Nicholas Belulin, in a statement yesterday, said they received a distress call around 9.40am pertaining to the incident.

According to him, a team of firemen who were dispatched to the scene used a utility vehicle and a boat to commute to the longhouse.

“The journey by boat from Sungai Entabai to the longhouse took one hour,” he said.

Upon arrival, the personnel were made to understand that the huge landslide, located 50 metres behind the eight-door longhouse, was caused by a heavy downpour.

Nicholas also reported that the structure of the first, sixth, seventh and eighth door of the longhouse were the only ones affected by the landslide, while the other doors of the longhouse were still in good condition.

However, there were no casualties reported during the incident.
