MIRI: The Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) yesterday (Oct 24) gave a total of RM200,000 in grants to the Miri Buddhist Meditation Society.

The fund given is to help carry out upgrading works on the temple which is located on top of Canada Hill here.

The grants were presented by Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, who is also Senadin assemblyman.

This is the third consecutive year the Miri Buddhist Meditation Society has received grants from Unifor with a total allocation of RM600,000.

In August this year, Lee also presented RM50,000 in Minor Rural Project grants to the meditation society for the construction of its temple.

He added that work on Phase One of the project is 20 percent completed.
