KUCHING: A delegation from Sarawak Master Builders Federation (SMBF), formerly known as Sarawak Building and Civil Engineering Contractors Association paid a courtesy visit to Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Sarawak to discuss industry related issues.

The delegation was led by SMBF president James Ha Tung Ing and was welcomed by CIDB Sarawak director Saini Saidi.

Among the matters discussed during the visit were construction supervision personnel endorsed and accredited by CIDB; mandatory requirements for registration of contractors and declaration of subcontractors for projects; compliance costs for false work.

They also touched on blacklisting of non-performing contractors; registration of building materials suppliers with CIDB; and extending Construction Labour Exchange Centre Berhad (CLAB) to Sarawak to ease foreign worker problems.

Ha thanked CIDB Sarawak for the fruitful discussion.

He also planned to conduct similar engagement programmes with relevant local agencies from time to time in order to bring up topical issues faced by construction industry players.
