KUCHING: The public and organisations have been urged to support the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) GoBald Virtual 2021 fundraising campaign.

“This is a good cause, to help SCCS raise funds for families who are going through the challenges of coping with cancer in the family.

“We cannot begin to imagine the level of stress that these children, their families and their caregivers have to go through, especially during this pandemic,” said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar James Jemut Masing.

He recalled that seven years ago, a similar event was held here where a few people took the challenge of having their heads shaved in public.

“One of those was Emma Maria Masing, who was 15 years old then. Through her act, Emma single-handedly raised RM81,307 for SCCS.

“I hope that this year others will also take the challenge and be generous towards this good cause.”

Meanwhile, SCCS president Rodney Wong said that due to the movement control order (MCO), public events were still not possible to be held.

“Therefore, the head-shaving will be carried out for free at salons after MCO. Those who are interested can register at www.gobald.my and book an appointment with the salons on site.”

GoBald Virtual 2021 is open for registration on July 4.
