MUKAH: A 27-year-old man was killed after he was involved in a road accident at KM133, Sibu- Bintulu Road at about 5.15pm on Saturday. The deceased, Andrew Ak Buat, who sustained severe head injuries died on the spot. According to Mukah District Police chief, DSP Jimmy Ak Panyau, the victim was travelling in a car with six companions when a lorry collided with the car.
“The deceased was seated in the back passenger seat of the car. They were heading to Sibu from Bintulu when the accident happened. It was said that the lorry had suddenly come out from a junction. Andrew hailed from Rumah Bungkong, Nanga Jugam, Julau.
His remains have been taken to Mukah Hospital for a post mortem,” he said. Jimmy pointed out that the two drivers were unhurt in the accident. However, other passengers of the car were referred to the Bintulu Hospital. He added that the car was badly damaged and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act ,1987.
