Car tyre-size hornet’s nest removed from house compound

MIRI: A team of four Miri Civil Defence Department (APM) removed a hornet’s nest from a tree in a house compound in Jalan Taman Piasau, Pujut 5B, here yesterday (Jan 3).

The hornet’s nest being removed from the tree.

The team responded to a call from the house owner who spotted the nest.

Miri APM officer -in-charge Lt Mirwan Shah Masri said the department acted promptly upon receiving an emergency call from a 48-year-old woman around 7.52am.

“Without wasting time we mobilised our personnel to the location,” he said.

Lance Cpl Yolanda Jawing and Cpl Susiena Echa Luton managed to remove the nest, the size of a Perodua Kanci tyre, from the tree in less than 30 minutes, Mirwan said.

The female personnel were wearing special outfits to protect themselves.
