MIRI: An owner of a car wash in Jalan Acacia 2B here and his employee were detained on Thursday for possessing drugs (ketamine and erimin 5) worth RM210,600.

Sarawak Customs director Datuk Sharifah Halimah Tuanku Taha said the duo, who are locals and aged 35 and 36, were detained during a raid conducted around 9.30am.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the drugs were purchased online and delivered using a courier service, she disclosed.

“We believe that the car wash serves as a storage and distribution facility for drug dealers in Miri and Sarawak,” she said in a statement.

Customs personnel confiscated a parcel containing 9,915 Erimin 5 pills and 1,015gms of ketamine.

In a nearby house belonging to the car wash owner, they recovered more drugs — 65 Erimin 5 pills and 10gms of ketamine.

Nimetazepam (marketed under brand name Erimin and Lavol) is an immediate-acting hypnotic drug which is a benzodiazepine derivative.

Ketamine is a dissociative anaesthetic that has gained popularity as a drug of abuse. On the street, it is commonly known as “K” or “Special K”.
