KUCHING: Since the establishment of the Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Commercial on April 4, 2019, the organisation has evolved and remains committed to being a premier commercialisation forum for Sarawak’s local entrepreneurs.
With the aim of being the frontier of the commercialisation of Sarawak’s heritage and digital goods by 2030, Centexs Commercial is always looking for ways to assist and uplift Sarawak-made products and entrepreneurs state wide.
It also has its physical platform at various places, namely Sarawak’s Trade and Tourism Office in Singapore (Statos); Malakat Mall and Sarawak Product Pavillion in West Malaysia; Aeon Mall, Kuching; Mydin Sarawak; Everrise Mart; H&L Mart; Unaco Mart, Petronas (Kuching branches); and Shell (Kuching branches).
This achievement is then followed by the establishment of Centexs Commercial’s Songket and Keringkam Gallery at Jalan Masjid here, under the Sarawak Songket and Keringkam Heritage Innovation Project, with Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang (wife of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) as the patron.
The structure houses a variety of Sarawak songket (a traditional embroidered fabric worn by men) and keringkam (a traditional scarf worn by women) hand-made by Sarawak’s local communities, including Puncak Borneo Prison SaraPride.
As for the company’s technological products, the ones produced by Centexs Commercial are the Sara-X application, service e-hailing employment application followed by C-USAT, also known as Centexs Urban, which is a Smart Agriculture Technology.
The centre also collaborates closely with other government organisations such as Old Kuching Smart Heritage (OKSHe), Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), and the state Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development.
