Charity run held to enhance autism awareness

KUCHING: About 3,000 people cheered on the Meow Autism Run 2024 charity run at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) foyer, here yesterday.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the run was held to create awareness about the autism community in the city.

At the same time, it also instills a healthy lifestyle among autistic children, in addition to strengthening family ties.

“I fully support the efforts of the Kuching Autism Association (KAA) in increasing autism awareness among the community.

“It is such a big commitment in creating a society that cares for this group,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the Meow Autism Run event at MBKS foyer here, yesterday.

Wee added that the run would also help raise funds for the operation of the KAA Vocational Education & Training Centre which amounts to RM1.2 million every year.

“The participation of more than 3,000 participants today is one of the indicators showing support for this group.

“In addition, we have also managed to raise funds amounting to RM120,000 to finance the KAA Vocational Education & Training Centre,” he said.
