LIMBANG: A company director with the title Dato is believed to have deceived a lecturer here with a cash loss of RM100,000. The 47-year-old victim from Sabah lodged a police report recently in relation to the incident (happened in Jun 2017).

Limbang District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai, said that a businessman with the title Dato had asked the victim to become a partner in a business and requested for a sum of RM100,000 for the project capital on Jun 14, 2017.

The victim said that the Dato had assured him that the business would have double profits for 10 years.

“Based on report received, the victim promised a return of 18 to 20 percent per month for 10 years. “Believing the Dato’s promise, the victim has deposited RM 100,000 into the Dato company’s account ,” he told the medi a recently. However, unt i l this repor t was made, the victim has yet to receive any promised benefits and he decided to lodge a police report.

The case will be investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code. Meanwhile, in a separate case, a teenager was arrested for selling illegal four digit numbers to the public.

The 18 – year – old suspect was arrested at around 2.29pm behind a bui lding in Ja l a n Wayang he re l a s t Saturday when the pol ice car r ied out Ops Dadu.

The police seized RM100 cash, a mobile phone and other tools believed to be used for selling illegal four digit numbers. The case will be investigated under Sect ion 4A(a) of ARJT 1953.
