SIBU: Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Edruce Tuanku Mohd, the Sibu Malay paramount chief, expressed appreciation for the visit of Chinese community leaders to his Raya Aidilfitri open house, describing them as very kind and good people.

Among the visitors were a delegation from the Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI), led by its president Datuk Lau Cheng Kiong.

Also present was SCCCI’s deputy president, Kapitan So Teck Kee.

Speaking to New Sarawak Tribune, Wan Hamid expressed profound gratitude for their visit to his open house at Jalan Jasmin, here.

“We have to work and fight together for the people of Sibu. I believe we can do a lot of things in Sibu for the benefit of everybody.

We have a population of 250,000 comprising 70 percent Chinese and the rest Bumiputera,” he noted.

Wan Hamid continued, “I believe we can do it because I was in business with the Chinese community for so long. I know they are very good people.”
