Civil servant among three nabbed for drug possession

MUKAH: A 32-year-old civil servant was among three local men detained by the police for possession of drugs, recently.

They were arrested by Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD Mukah) Narcotic Crime Investigation Division in two separate cases. 

According to Mukah District Police Chief, Jimmy ak Panyau, the first happened on June 19 at a parking lot near a fast food outlet in town.

“It was about 1.20pm when our men detained two men who was behaving in a suspicious manner at a parking lot at KFC Mukah. 

“Upon inspection on a grey Proton Waja, the police seized four transparent plastic packets containing pieces of crystal substance believed to be Methamphetamine with a gross weight of 6.13 gram. 

“Two men both aged 32 years were arrested, of whom one of them was a public sector staff,” he said.

Urine test conducted on the two suspects was drug positive and the case was being investigated under Section 39A(1) Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) DDA 1952.

The second case one was on June 29 at a bus stop in Kampung Tellian Tengah Mukah, where they detained an 18 year old boy.

“Upon checking on the suspect, our men confiscated a small transparent plastic packet containing dried leaves believed to be Cannabis with a gross weight of 6.64 gram.

“He was taken to the police station, and a urine test conducted on him was found to be drug positive. He is being investigated under Section 6 DDA 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) DDA 1952,” Jimmy explained.

Regarding the Syabu case, he said the two suspects were first remanded for four days and then extended to another three days.
