SIBU: Borneo Legacy Community Club (BLRC) and Remaung Borneo Motor Club (RBMC) have come to the aid of a man, his wife and their three-week baby daughter by donating food items, clothing and diapers.
Genta Janting, 37, who works as a grave digger, and his wife, Chun Empara, 43, who had just given birth to a daughter, have no proper home.
They stay in a small leaky hut equipped with a single electric bulb, but they still have to pay RM10 every month for the electricity. They depend on rain as their source of water supply.
Meanwhile, the chairperson of BLRC Sibu, Philomena Yew hoped that the donation would be able to ease the burden faced by the couple.
“It is just a simple donation, but it means a lot to them,” she told reporters after visiting the couple in Bukit Aup near Rumah Catherine Tamoh in Sungai Aup, Sibu.
According to Yew, no welfare agency or organisation realise the hardship faced by the couple.
“We hope that Ministry of Rural and Regional Development or other ministries or private organisations would help the couple. They really need a proper shelter.
“They also deserve to benefit from housing aid programme,” she added.
