ALOR SETAR: Kedah head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak wants his team to forget Thursday night’s defeat to Terengganu FC (TFC) and focus on the next match against PKNS FC in the Malaysia Cup tournament. The Red Eagles coach said the team put up a good performance but failed to convert the many opportunities at goal. Despite playing on home ground, Kedah lost 0-2 to TFC in the Group A match last night at the Darul Aman Stadium here.

“Actually, our team had many goal-scoring opportunities, especially in the second half, but that’s football. It is the first time that we have lost at Darul Aman. We had 10 opportunities to score but did not convert any.

“Luck was not with us although the players gave 100 per cent focus in the match,” he told reporters after the match on Thursday night. TFC won the match last night through the goals scored by import player Tchetche Hermann Brice Kipre in the 66th and 85th minutes. Aidil Sharin denied that the defeat was due to fatigue, saying that his team was in good momentum after having won the FA Cup recently. “The players did everything they could.

I don’t know what caused us to lose the match, but we will evaluate and rectify the weaknesses,” he said. TFC coach Mohd Nafuzi Muhammad Zain said it was not easy for his team to beat Kedah at the opponent’s home ground, especially when the team only played with 10 players in the second half. Goalkeeper Muhamad Ilham Amirullah Razali was sent off in the 45th minute for a foul on Farhan Roslan. He said the players showed a high level of commitment and discipline. – Bernama
