KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is ready to face its challengers no matter who they are in the 15th general election (GE15), said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

The GPS deputy chairman said these challengers included the candidates from Perikatan Nasional (PN), nominated by its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in four seats in Sarawak.

“Before this, he (Muhyiddin) agreed to let Sarawak use our own platform, GPS in Sarawak.

“That’s what we agreed on at several meetings.

“Whether he breaks his promise or not, he has already nominated candidates in Sarawak and we will fight them,” he said when met by reporters at the Sarawak Fair 2022 press conference at the Hilton Hotel here yesterday.

The four parliamentary seats PN is contesting in GE15 are Saratok, Lubok Antu, Bintulu and Batang Lupar.

Awang Tengah also said that GPS had placed its candidates in all 31 Sarawak parliamentary seats.

“GPS will continue to oppose anyone but at the same time, we leave it to the people to determine their own choices,” he said.

Awang Tengah added that public response to various GPSs campaigns so far had been good.

“The public has confidence in GPS and the leadership of the Premier of Sarawak,” he said.
