MELUDAM: Three roads in three locations along the stretch of the state coastal road are now being repaired at a cost of about RM18.6 million and expected completion is within eight months.

According to Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi, the three roads being repaired are under their yearly routine maintenance done by the state government through the Public Works Department (JKR).

“Today, we are witnessing and doing site visit to two of the roads namely Triso/Melebu/Pusa Road

with a proposed rehabilitation length of 6.5km out of 17.80km of the total road length, which is 2km from the Triso Ferry Point,” he said adding that the cement stabilising has been done and will be continued with premix works.

He added that another road is Kpg Sg Buloh, Sebuyau Coastal Road  with  a proposed rehabilitation length of 6.05km out of 9.23km of the total road length.

“We have another one road location which is in Sibu, the Teku Pasai Siong Road with  a proposed rehabilitation length of 4.37km out of 6.50km of the total road length and repairs of all three roads started early this April,” he pointed out.

Julaiho said this in a press conference after the site visit to Triso/Melebu/Pusa Road on Monday.

“These three roads are identified as roads that need immediate attention because of the uneven road surface complaints by the people.

“We take action and do the road maintenance under the rehabilitation funds immediately as this is our yearly maintenance routine and not because of election time is coming.

‘We listen to the rakyat’s representative proposal and the people’s voice not only during election but all the time,” he stressed.

Julaihi who is also the Sebuyau Assemblyman said the rest of the roads maintenance that has not been done yet along the stretch of the coastal road will be done through the coastal road package under the upgrading exercise.

“Once the plan and details are finalised, we will be commencing the project this year,” he said adding that the upgrading will be done to the whole stretch of the state coastal road from the south to north part.
