Ting (centre) launches the integrated camping for uniform unit programme.

MIRI: A new open shed for Kolej Tun Datu Tuanku Haji Bujang (KTDTHB) here will soon be a reality, thanks to a RM300,000 allocation announced by Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I (Tourism) Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.

Ting said this funding comes as part of the 2024 Rural Transformation Project (RTP).

“The funds given reflect the state government’s seriousness in developing its education and building knowledgeable human capital,” he said at the integrated camping for uniform units programme at KTDTHB today.

The camp, which began on November 2 and will run until November 5, has drawn 149 students from nine different uniformed groups at the school. They will engage in a variety of activities over the course of three days and two nights, including first aid training, a cooking contest, jungle trekking, marching drills, and a cultural evening.

Ting, who was representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan to officiate the programme, also highlighted the importance of learning the English language.
