The play specially designed for the occasion was the creative works of KRIS coordinator, Juni Aji Jon, who had produced and directed a number of plays since the establishment of the group about fifteen years ago.
The play or pantomime of the day depicted a youth, Abu bin Bakar, who was brought up in a broken family and badly needed the love and care of the parent and the community around him.
“After he failed to experience that much appealing kind of life, Abu decided to obtain it through a `short cut’ kind of solution by living a loose life, womanising and also taking drugs. And his wild life was up to an unbearable stage where he was willing to kill his parents to secure that prohibited substance,” said Juni.
He added that it was just a short-live fantasy for him who was also then turned into a drug dealer and was imposed with the most severe punishment for drug offender, namely death by hanging, towards the end of the play.
The guest of honour of the Drug Menace programme was Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development who is also Dalat State Assemblywoman, Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah.
Besides the drama, other items featured at the event were fitness exercises, sharing by an ex-drug addict, talks on dangerous drugs, forum, canning demonstration and mini-exhibiiton from the relevant agencies.
