SIMANGGANG: The community, especially community leaders and village heads (Ketua Masyarakat dan Ketua Kaum – KMKK), must have access to accurate information about any government programmes.

This information should then be conveyed to their constituents in their respective areas to ensure they understand government policies, especially in the context of development.

Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said the Community Development Programme of the Sri Aman District Council (Majlis Daerah Sri Aman – MDSA), for example, provides a platform for government agencies to disseminate information about their respective responsibilities.

“The lectures provided are very beneficial to the local residents in aspects of education, disease prevention, and services offered by agencies.

FRANCIS HARDEN was welcomed by the village residents upon his arrival at the Chau Sambau Longhouse for the MDSA Community Development Program here yesterday.

“Therefore, do not miss the opportunity to obtain accurate information and then share it with your constituents under your care.

“In this way, the community will understand and not blame the government or their elected representatives in the development process in the area.”

Harden made these remarks when inaugurating the MDSA Community Development Programme at the Chau Sambau Longhouse near San Ugol Asal here.

He further explained that the programme included lectures from four agencies: the Social Welfare Department of Sri Aman Division, the Veterinary Office of Sri Aman Division, the District Police Headquarters (IPD) of Sri Aman, and MDSA itself.

The topics covered included Aid to the Poor and Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC), fraud prevention, rabies prevention, and village store licensing.

During the same event, Harden also approved an allocation for the 2024 Rural Small Projects (MRP) for the Village Development and Safety Committees (Jawatankuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Kampung – JKKK) of Chau Sambau Longhouse, Intai Kilau Longhouse, and Grain Kom Longhouse, each amounting to RM5,000.

Earlier in separate developments, Harden made stops at the Sri Aman Division Public Works Department (Jabatan Kerja Raya – JKR) office and MDSA as part of his routine visits to assess project status in the region.
