KAPIT: Member of Parliament for Kapit, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi recently reminded the contractor tasked to do the proposed Song Waterfront Phase II and Phase III projects to complete them according to schedule.
“These two projects are not major ones. I don’t see any complication in implementing the projects and I hope they could be completed on time. There should be no excuse of the delay by blaming the weather,” Nanta said while attending a meeting on the handing over of the site for the proposed Song Waterfront Phase II and Phase III projects held at Kapit District Council Song Branch conference room recently.
“As contractors when you bid for the project, you should know the local situation and the weather factor should be calculated in your bidding.Kapit is facing fluctuating in the rise and fall of the water level and this is one of the local situations you should know,” stressed Nanta.
He also told the successful contractors involved in the construction of the projects to get themselves acquainted with the relevant government departments such as District Office, Kapit District Council, Sarawak Rivers Board and the Land and Survey Department.
They also should know the local community leaders to ensure the smooth implementation of the projects.
At the function Nanta witnessed the handing over of the documents and project site for the proposed Song Waterfront Phase II and Phase III to the successful contractors by the secretary of the Council, Jabang Anak Juntan.
The successful contractor for Song Waterfront Phase II is RIZQIY Engineering while the contractor for Song Waterfront Phase III is Tuchong Naning Sdn Bhd while the consultant for both projects is BL Consultants.
The proposed RM4 million Song Waterfront Phase II and Phase III projects upon completion will be a new landmark for Song district. Phase II of Song Waterfront project is expected to be completed within a period of 12 months period on 31 October 2019 while Phase III of Song Waterfront is expected to be completed in 15 months period on 30 January 2020.
Present at the function were the Secretary of Kapit District Council Jabang Juntan, assistant secretary Kelimbik Sibat, Deputy Walikota of the council Councillor Lawrence Listin Baling, Song District Officer Jacklyn Bte August, heads and representatives of the various government agencies, representatives from RIZQIY Engineering and Tuchon Naning Sdn Bhd, consultants, councillors, community leaders and senior staff of the council.
