Cooperation, transparency vital for village committee

KUCHING: The village management committee is reminded to always be transparent in planning activities and village records.

Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said that the main committee’s role is to manage it so that it functions well.

“I like to emphasise that every village management needs to cooperate and be transparent and responsible for planning village activities and records,” he said.

The Deputy Minister of Talent Development said this during a ceremony organised by the management committee of Kampung Duri Asal, Bangat which took place at the Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall.

He explained that cooperation is very important to ensure the smooth management of the village committee.

“Those elected need to be aware that the people expect them to carry out their trust with transparency. So, they should carry out their duties with full sincerity and people-friendliness,” he said.

Harden at the ceremony approved the allocation under the minor rural projects (MRP) funds to the Narok longhouse village management committee, at Duri Asal in Bangat area amounting to RM10,000 whereas RM5,000  was given to the Women’s Bureau.

For the record, this programme was held to obtain funds from various sources to finance the construction project of the new Narok Linang longhouse, Duri Asal to replace the dilapidated old longhouse.
