KUCHING: Police have started an investigation into a road rage incident that happened along Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg in front of Wisma Saberkas on Thursday.

Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah in a statement today said the case had gone viral in a series of videos uploaded on Facebook and it is believed to have occurred around 3.42pm.

He said the video showed a male suspect had acted aggressively by getting out of his vehicle before knocking on the victim’s car window violently, as well as uttering threatening words towards the victim.

“The video also showed the suspect trying to stop the victim’s vehicle in a dangerous manner,” he said, adding a police report had been lodged.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine, if convicted and Section 279 under the same act for driving recklessly on a public road.
